A Metroidvania meeting a souls-like is a way to describe Blasphemous 2. This game features unique and terrifying environments, labyrinth-like areas, and many, many enemies to face. The bosses pack a punch and will continue to destroy your flawless run dreams. The first boss you’ll face in Blasphemous 2 is Faceless One, Chisel of Oblivion, and here are tips to beat it.

Right after picking your weapon, whether it is Ruego al Alba, Sarmiento & Centella, or Veredicto, you will face your first boss. It acts as a tutorial and introduction to enemy combat. While it is one of the first enemies in the game, many players, especially the ones that are not used to this type of title, will find the Faceless One a formidable enemy. This boss gave me a bit of a headache while I was adapting to the game’s controls.

To beat the Faceless One, you will have to carefully time your attacks. More importantly, your dashes and jumps will be your priorities. Out of the three weapons, only the Ruego al Alba features a more-than-decent parry. However, you may struggle with the parry window at this early stage of the game. The Faceless One has two main attacks. He will throw himself with his spiked wheel across the stage. He will also jump and in mid-air throw his wheel directly at you.

Whenever you see the Faceless One on one side of the stage throw his wheel, run in the opposite direction and jump over it. Then, go ahead and hit the Faceless One with everything you got. You can attempt to parry the wheel, but the Faceless One momentum will end up damaging you. Jumping is the only viable choice.

The Faceless mid-air attack is the deadliest of the bunch. If you try to avoid this attack by jumping, he will hit you. If you try to parry, he will hit you again. So, your only chance to survive is to dash. Once you see the Faceless One in the air, dash across the map towards him. He has an angle limit to his attack and won’t be able to shoot his wheel straight downwards. Once he gets back on ground level, hit him with your attacks.

Repeat this process and you will eventually defeat the Faceless One in Blasphemous 2. There are no other battle stages or new attacks since this is the first boss and, as said above, it acts as a tutorial for the player.

Blasphemous 2 is available for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, PC, and Nintendo Switch.
